Find Your Feet

The Client

Find Your Feet is a Community Interest Company, which specialises in upskilling the next generation.

The Challenge

I was commissioned to redesign a two-week course, which teaches young people the foundations of digital marketing. The aim was to help them to start a career in the industry or use the skills learnt to promote their business.

The current course was considered bulky, incoherent and difficult to standardise when delivered by different trainers.

The Solution

As the course prepares young people to work in digital marketing, I decided that the best approach was to design the course around a campaign structure. Campaigns are the backbone of marketing, and are used in every industry.

With this in mind, I created the following structure for the course:

  • Develop SMART objectives

  • Get fanatical about your audience

  • Create content people love

  • Post like a pro

  • Measuring success

As people learn in different ways, each section was taught with a blended approach. There was some theory, followed by discussion and then a task to complete. At the end of the week, students create a campaign for a popular brand.

The Results

The client was very happy with the redesigned course. Now all trainers can deliver the same training, which has provided them with standardisation for the first time.

In addition, clients, including The Prince’s Trust and the local authorities, have given positive feedback. Most importantly, the young people regulary praise the course, and credit it with helping them take their next professional steps.
