Talland Bay Hotel

The Client

Talland Bay Hotel is a small luxury hotel on the stunning south Cornish coast.

The Challenge

The hotel’s brand didn’t reflect it’s brilliant and fabulous qualities. The hotel is luxurious and homely, but also imaginative. Each room is bespoke with distinctive themes, and all are designed by their in-house creative genius Penny.

The Solution

This beautiful Cornish hotel needed a:

  • Brand strategy

  • Personality

  • Tone of Voice (TOV)

  • Website copy.

I worked closely with a team of brilliant independent creatives. Graphic designer Nick Dell’Anno led on all things visual, and web developer Miles Noble was responsible for all digital aspects.

Together we delivered a brand discovery workshop with the client. I then used the findings to develop a brand strategy, personality and TOV that captures Talland’s distinctive character.

I was then able to develop all the copy for the website, using these brand guidelines. I ensured the copy was optimised for UX, by balancing fun with functionality. As each room is bespoke, I created a unique name and mini-brand that matched their individual characters. This resulted in a unique hotel booking experience.

The Results

With this project, we delivered more than a brand. We gave Talland Bay permission to be themselves. We went big and brave, and Talland Bay completely embraced every single aspect. The final brand captures their distinctive combination of being fun, adventurous and welcoming.

Most importantly, the staff love the brand and feel proud to belong to a hotel, which is unrivalled in the region.

This truly is a hotel that “goes beyond the obvious”.
